This bead is crafted from the copper firebrick of Copper Country, Northern Michigan. In the 1800's Michigan was a hub of Native Copper mining, producing up to 95% of the nations copper. During the smelting process, some of the copper was absorbed into the bricks lining the ovens - this bead is made from the actual bricks.
